I find it so exhilarating to share techniques and ideas with my students that I’m nearly breathless—actually buzzed—by the exchange of creativity. There’s a Christmas-morning excitement in opening the kiln; it’s incredibly addictive.
Fused glass is a magical, all-inclusive medium for both the seasoned artist and those who claim to lack artistic skill. To watch students gasp in amazement when they see their masterpiece, still warm in the kiln, gives me goosebumps every time. By the end of class, we’re a tribe of artists.
My graphic design background has translated seamlessly to my glass art where many of the same principles of color, balance and focus apply. Passionate about creating with glass, I’m an enthusiastic, energetic, and generous instructor. Let’s get you fired up too!

Pre-Covid, I often taught technique-driven classes in my studio, accommodating individuals and small groups for private lessons.

Here are a few of the classes I’ve taught:
Fused Glass Quick Start
Try your hand at the incredibly addictive art of glass fusing! This is a fun half-day class for beginners who want to see what all the excitement is about. We begin with a brief introduction to the basic concepts and materials and move quickly through exercises to have you confidently cutting sheet glass. With your newfound skills, you’ll design and assemble one or more hanging art pieces suitable for indoor or outdoor display.
Just Wanna’ Play?
Maybe you don’t need to know the technical stuff but want to make something fun for yourself or a gift. Here are a few suggestions:
Holiday Ornaments: tiny trees to decorate, snowflakes, icicles, and more.
Modern Mandalas: mesmerizing indoor or outdoor hanging sculptures.
Sweet Hearts: sweet and/or sassy hanging sun-catchers.
Introduction to Fusing and Slumping
Fusing is the heat bonding of glass elements such as sheets, frits, and stringers. Slumping is the shaping or bending of glass into or over a mold. In this two part session you’ll be introduced to both through demonstrations and discussions about the forms of art glass, mold materials, kilns, and firing schedules. Class size is limited for plenty of individual instruction. This is an ideal class for someone who’s never worked with glass but also a great refresher for those with some experience.
Scrap Attack!
If you think all you can make with scrap glass is jewelry, think again! This class will help you tackle those piles of glass accumulating as you practice your craft. Come spend the day playing with scrap material and leave with the knowledge and skills to transform your leftover bits into true works of art.
